Radamel Falcao has tweeted that he is back in training as Manchester United's injury-hit striker has set his sights on making a first-team comeback.

The Colombia international, who joined United on a season's loan from Monaco on deadline-day, has missed their last four games with a calf injury and has not started for his club since the 2-1 win over Everton in October.

But Falcao posted a picture and a message on Twitter as he indicated his determination to return to the side for their upcoming fixtures.

Yet while he suggested he might be available for the home matches against Hull and Stoke, manager Louis van Gaal said on Thursday that the Colombian is unlikely to be available before the trip to Southampton on December 8.

Van Gaal said in his news conference: "He has an injury and that takes time. Now it's four weeks already and next week he shall train with our selection and then he needs two weeks. It's always like that."

Falcao has been limited to five appearances for United and just three starts, while he has scored a solitary goal for his new club.

The former Atletico Madrid and Porto player, who has scored 156 goals in 205 appearances for his European clubs, has hit back at suggestions he is still troubled by his knee after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in January.

In his absence, Van Gaal has changed United's tactics and is now playing with a solitary striker, Robin van Persie.
