Arsene Wenger admits it was frustrating to see Arsenal finish second in their Champions League group despite their 4-1 thrashing of Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Wenger's side responded to the 3-2 Premier League defeat at Stoke on Saturday - which saw them 3-0 down at half-time - as doubles from Lukas Podolski and Aaron Ramsey fired them to an impressive win in Istanbul.

However, victory was not enough to overtake Borussia Dortmund at the top of Group D with both clubs advancing to the knockout phase.

"There's a little bit of frustration that we have finished runners-up but we knew at half time we needed to score six goals without conceding," Wenger told Sky Sports.

"Unfortunately it wasn't enough - we finished with 13 points and did the job tonight. We came out strong and that's what I wanted from these players.

"We won four games, lost one and had one draw. Looking back, we can maybe regret that point at home to Anderlecht. There's some great teams in the draw for the last 16 and we need to wait and see who we get."
