Liverpool face trip to Turkey in Europa League

Liverpool face a trip to Turkey in the Europa League play-off round after they were pulled out of the hat alongside Trabzonspor.

Roy Hodgson's men eased through their third qualifying round by beating Rabotnicki 4-0 on aggregate on Thursday night, and they will be satisfied with a relatively short trip to Turkey. However, the Liverpool manager will be well aware of Trabzonspor's history, which counts six Turkish league titles among its honours list.

Celtic were in the same pot as Liverpool on Friday but could not be drawn against their fellow seeds. Having failed to qualify for the Champions League, the Bhoys were drawn against Dutch side Utrecht.

Aston Villa emerged from Pot Six to face Rapid Vienna, who defeated Villa at exactly the same stage last season. Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini's multi-millionnaires at Manchester City will travel to Romania to face Timisoara.

Ties to be played on August 19 and 26.
