Manchester United failed to make their chances count in the first half as they played out a goalless draw at Tottenham Hospur.

United had several opportunities to make the breakthrough in the first half, but Juan Mata saw his free kick hit the woodwork while one effort that did cross the line was ruled out for offside.

Otherwise, Hugo Lloris kept United at bay with a string of excellent saves from the likes of Robin van Persie and Ashley Young as the teams went in level at the break.

United struggled to carve out such clear opportunities in the second half, with David de Gea also given work to do at the other end and Ryan Mason passing up a good late opportunity for Spurs.
