Moreno: Arsenal should demand better

Lukas Podolski is set to join Inter Milan on loan following Arsenal's first game of 2015 against Southampton.

According to a report in the Telegraph, Inter officials met with Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger on Saturday to discuss the availability of the forward and came away confident that a deal can be struck.

It is suggested Inter will pay a loan fee of around £1.5 million to keep Podolski for the rest of the season, with the view to a permanent deal.

Podolski was an unused substitute in Arsenal's 2-1 victory at top-four rivals West Ham on Sunday and Wenger hinted the striker, whose future has been up in the air for months, could be allowed to leave the club after the New Year's Day clash at St Mary's.

When asked about the move, Wenger said: "There's nothing concrete. We have Mesut Ozil coming back at the beginning of January, so we have a lot of competition up front."

Earlier on Sunday, Podolski spoke of his intention to hold showdown talks with Wenger regarding his future at Arsenal. The 29-year-old has cut a frustrated figure in recent months and has become irritated by his lack of game time.

He said: "What can I do that I'm not already doing? I played in the starting XI in the Champions League and scored two goals, but then I was back on the bench [for the 4-1 win over Newcastle]. I don't know what more I can do to convince the coach.

"In the next few days, I'm going to talk to him. I want to know what the club is planning for me."
