Bordeaux closing in on Sanogo loan deal

Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol says he is confident Yaya Sanogo will join on a six-month loan from Arsenal, even though Arsene Wenger has said he would prefer the striker to remain in England.
Sanogo, 21, has made just three Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season and featured in only eight English top-flight games last term following his move from Auxerre.
Sagnol told French newspaper Sud Ouest the France under-21 international is the ideal replacement for Bordeaux's leading scorer, Cheick Diabate, who will join Mali for the African Nations Cup this month.
However, while Wenger has confirmed he is considering a loan deal for Sanogo, who has been struggling with a hamstring problem, he appears reluctant to allow him to return to France.
"It is a possibility, and I would prefer him to go to a Premier League club," Wenger said.
He added: "Sanogo is a goal scorer and he is not frightened. He is a guy who is naturally aggressive and in the modern game that is a vital quality."
Sanogo, who was snapped up by Arsenal after scoring 10 goals in 13 Ligue 2 encounters during the 2012-13 season, has also been linked with Crystal Palace.
