Stephen Ireland and Craig Bellamy appear to be on their way out of Manchester City after both were omitted from the squad for the Europa League qualifier against Timisoara next week.

Ireland is reported to be moving to Aston Villa as a makeweight in the deal that will take James Milner to City, while Bellamy revealed yesterday that he fears he is not in boss Roberto Mancini's plans for next season.

His concerns appear to have been justified after he and Ireland were axed from the squad, which is - tellingly - two men short of the 25 permitted by UEFA.

Less revealingly, David Silva - signed from Valencia this summer - has been omitted as he is afforded time to recover from his World Cup exertions with the Spain squad.

City's three other new arrivals - Yaya Toure, Jerome Boateng and Aleksandar Kolarov - have made the squad, as have two players who were thought to be on borrowed time with the Eastlands club; Roque Santa Cruz and record signing Robinho.

Squad: Given, Hart, Taylor; Richards, Boateng, Zabaleta, Kolo Toure, Lescott, Logan, Bridge, Kolarov; Wright-Phillips, Adam Johnson, Yaya Toure, Michael Johnson, Barry, Vieira, Kompany, de Jong; Adebayor, Robinho, Santa Cruz, Tevez.
