Welbeck heads to Sunderland for medical
Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has arrived at Sunderland to undergo a medical ahead of his prospective season-long loan move.
Sunderland sold Kenwyne Jones to Stoke City for £8 million on Wednesday and Bruce already has a replacement lined up with Welbeck, 19, on the brink of joining the club.
Welbeck spent a spell on loan at Preston last season, scoring twice in eight Championship starts, and Sir Alex Ferguson is now keen for him to obtain Premier League experience.
The striker has made only two league starts for United since emerging from the club's academy and the summer signings of Javier Hernandez and Bebe have further restricted his first-team chances.
He joins Fraizer Campbell at Sunderland, who also started his career at Old Trafford before joining the Black Cats for a fee of £3.5 million in July 2009.
