West Ham tear up Morrison contract ahead of Lazio move
West Ham have announced the termination of Ravel Morrison's contract with immediate effect.
Morrison, 22, has been linked with a move to Lazio, with reports suggesting he has already agreed to join the Italian Serie A side on a free transfer at the end of the season.
A statement on the Hammers' website read: "West Ham United can confirm that the club have reached agreement with Ravel Morrison to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
"The 22-year-old midfielder joined West Ham in January 2012 and made 24 appearances in his three years at the club, scoring five goals. The Hammers would like to wish Ravel every success in his future career."
The midfielder joined the West Ham in January 2012 after a two-year stint at Manchester United and made most of his 24 appearances for Sam Allardyce's side in the 2013-14 season, peaking with a wonderful solo goal in West Ham's 3-0 win over Tottenham in October 2013.
However, a series of disciplinary problems hampered his progress at Upton Park and he was loaned to Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City. Once again, he failed to capitalise on flashes of promise at Birmingham and, particularly, under Harry Redknapp at QPR before leaving both clubs.
