Rodgers: Liverpool clearly better

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says the fitness of Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana will be assessed ahead of Tuesday's game against Tottenham.

Coutinho and Sterling were both forced off with knocks during the 0-0 Merseyside derby draw against Everton on Saturday.

Lallana, meanwhile, was not deemed fit enough to make the squad for the Goodison Park clash, but Rodgers is hopeful all three will be in contention to feature against Tottenham.

"Phil Coutinho had a knock on his knee and Raheem had a knock on his foot," Rodgers told the club's official website.

"We had fresh players on the bench to bring on and hopefully they will be fit for Tuesday."

On Lallana, Rodgers added: "We need to see how he is but he is a big possibility for Tuesday."

Liverpool sit two places below Tottenham in seventh in the Premier League table, but a win on Tuesday would leave them just one point behind the North London side.
