Manchester United set to discover extent of Van Persie injury
Manchester United will assess Robin van Persie's ankle injury after he left the Liberty Stadium on crutches on Saturday.
The striker was seen with his right foot and the bottom of his leg in a protective cast after the 2-1 defeat to Swansea.
Van Persie is United's 10-goal joint top scorer, has started 24 of their last 25 league games and has been an automatic choice under manager Louis van Gaal.
He missed United's 3-1 win over Preston last Monday with a minor injury before returning to the side at the Liberty Stadium.
Of the three other specialist strikers in United's squad, Wayne Rooney has scored just once in 11 games, James Wilson has only netted twice all season and Radamel Falcao's career in England has produced just four goals in 19 matches.
Van Persie renewed his rivalry with Ashley Williams on Saturday, two years after then-United manager Sir Alex Ferguson claimed the Dutchman was "lucky to be alive" and accused the Swansea captain of deliberately kicking the ball at his head.
Wales international Williams revealed the mascot at the weekend asked him to stage an action replay.
"That incident made me famous for a couple of days and it's what people always remind me about that day," Williams said. "Even the mascot asked me whether I could do it again."
