Scholes will manage Oldham - one day
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes will manage Oldham "one day", according to the club's chairman.
Scholes, who served on interim United manager Ryan Giggs' backroom staff at the end of last season, is a lifelong Oldham fan and occasionally takes coaching sessions for the League One club.
"I'd love him on board but it's difficult," chairman Simon Corney told BBC Radio Manchester. "I think one day he will come and manage the club but it is all about timing for him.
"We speak on a regular basis and Paul occasionally comes down and does training sessions. He is a friend of the club."
Scholes, 40, retired as a player in 2013 after making 718 appearances for United and has coached some of the youth teams at Old Trafford.
He is also a part owner of non-league Salford City with Giggs and his former United team-mates Nicky Butt, Gary and Phil Neville while he works as a television pundit.
Oldham are looking for a new manager after Lee Johnson left to join their League One rivals Barnsley.
