Manchester United's Van Gaal fumes at Giggs rift reports
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reacted angrily to suggestions his relationship with assistant Ryan Giggs has deteriorated.
Ashley Young's late goal gave United victory at Newcastle on Wednesday and, in the celebratory aftermath, Van Gaal playfully grabbed Giggs' cheek. However, Giggs did not appear amused by his manager's actions, which led to speculation after the game that the pair were not seeing eye-to eye.
However, the Dutchman blasted the suggestions during his Thursday press conference ahead of United's FA Cup quarter-final clash with Arsenal next week.
"I am very irritated at this question because everyone can see we have a very good relationship," says Van Gaal.
"We work very hard together. Not only with Ryan but with all the staff and the players. It is a way of suggesting things. I am very irritated. I take my measures against the media. I am not pleased."
Van Gaal also spoke of his desire to lead United back into the Champions League, their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Arsenal and why Arsene Wenger had done a fantastic job at the Emirates.
