Ryan Giggs has left the door ajar for the Wales national team by admitting he would be interested in managing his country at some stage.

John Toshack is expected to vacate the role after six years in charge and Giggs' name has been put forward as a potential successor.

The midfielder, who has already secured his UEFA coaching badges, admits it would be tough to take on the job at the present time due to his playing commitments with Manchester United, but can envisage taking on the role at some stage.

"If you go into management, the big job is to be in charge of your country. And I'm no different in terms of thinking like that," Giggs said in the Daily Telegraph.

"At the moment it is difficult, because I still have commitments as a player. But I always use the Sparky (Mark Hughes) situation. One minute he is playing for Wales and in the Premier League with Blackburn, then the next thing you know, he is managing his country. Sparky never really planned for that."
