Fabio Capello feels he will be too old to lead England to the 2014 World Cup

Fabio Capello has confirmed he will leave his post as England coach after the 2012 European Championship.

Capello clung on to his job as England boss following the abject showing at the World Cup, but will vacate the role whatever the outcome at Euro 2012.

England have made a fine start to qualifying with wins against Bulgaria and Switzerland and the performances have lifted the pressure on the Italian.

Montenegro are up next for England and a win would leave the side well placed to qualify for the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, but it will be Capello's last as manager of the national side.

"Absolutely, yes," the 64-year-old said when asked whether he would be leaving after Euro 2012, repeating the assertion to make sure everyone understood. "We have to qualify first of course but after that I will be too old. I want to enjoy my life as a pensioner."
