Fulham have been rocked by the news that striker Bobby Zamora has been ruled out for five months with ankle ligament damage and a broken leg.

The England forward, 29, suffered the injuries following a challenge from Karl Henry during Fulham's 2-1 win over Wolves last weekend.

It is a cruel blow for the player after he recently signed a new four-year contract with the Cottagers, and made his England debut against Hungary last month.

His Fulham manager, Mark Hughes, said: "Bobby's had his operation. He will now be in bed with his leg elevated for two weeks. The operation showed ligament damage so we're probably now looking at five months.

"We want to help Bobby get back quickly and there are no concerns over his ability to get back to the level he was before he got injured."

Fulham are also without long-term absentee Andy Johnson, which means new signing Moussa Dembele will be expected to lead the attack.
