Gerrard left out of Liverpool's squad for Utrecht
Steven Gerrard will play no part in Liverpool's Europa League tie against Utrecht on Thursday, but Fernando Torres is expected to feature after travelling with the squad.
Reds' under-fire manager Roy Hodgson has taken the decision to rest Gerrard despite his side's unconvincing start to the season.
Although Liverpool have been faultless in their Europa League campaign so far - winning their opening Group K tie against Steaua Bucharest - they have struggled in the league.
The latest blow was suffered when they slumped to a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland on Saturday, with Gerrard's second-half header rescuing the Anfield side.
But Gerrard will not be around to save Liverpool in Holland, where they will also be without Daniel Agger.
