Park Ji-sung has admitted his performances have been below par so far this season, and he confessed 'mentally I have been weak'.

The box-to-box Manchester United midfielder has featured in six competitive matches this season, four of which have ended in draws. Sir Alex Ferguson has only employed the South Korea international in one home match, the 0-0 draw against Rangers.

However, Park did play a role in United's 1-0 Champions League victory in Valencia, which the Red Devils hope will ignite a previously inconsistent season to date. Park acknowledges his own need to improve, and he confesses that his focus has not been satisfactory since the World Cup.

"I am not satisfied," Park said in the Daily Telegraph. "I don't know why my performances haven't been good, but maybe I was not ready for the season.

"Mentally I have been weak."

United face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this weekend, hoping to narrow the three-point gap that separates them from Chelsea.
