Beckham refuses to abandon England dream

David Beckham is fiercely determined to force his way back into the England reckoning, having been encouraged by Fabio Capello's admission that "the door is always open".
With an ankle injury now firmly behind him, Beckham has been in impressive form for Los Angeles Galaxy. He produced a key goal at the weekend as his side secured Major League Soccer's Western Conference title with a 2-1 home win over FC Dallas.
Now Beckham, 35, is aiming to make another comeback at international level, having previously returned to the England fold after being written off by Steve McClaren following the 2006 World Cup.
"Everyone knows how passionate I am about playing for my country over the years, so I'd love to continue to play," Beckham said. "Whether I do or not, that's down to the manager. I'd always love to be available for my country."
The former Real Madrid star has ruled out a loan move to Europe during the MLS close season, preferring instead to allow his ankle injury further time to recuperate. "I've enjoyed the four years that I've been here, I've got a year left and who knows what's going to happen after that. I'm definitely going to be here for the rest of my contract," he said.
