Manchester City could be handed a surprise boost at the weekend, with manager Roberto Mancini revealing captain Carlos Tevez could face West Brom.

The Argentina international has been troubled by a thigh complaint and said on Tuesday that he was likely to miss the clash with the Baggies. He suggested a return in the Manchester derby was the more likely outcome, but Mancini has revealed the forward will return to England on Thursday and could be given the nod to face West Brom.

"He will be ready for West Brom if he is okay - and he should be," Mancini said in the Daily Mirror ahead of the club's clash with Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday.

City have some big games coming up in the next few days and brothers Kolo and Yaya Toure have been excused the trip to Poznan. "We have three games next week," Mancini said. "Yaya and Kolo need to rest."
