Park Ji-sung netted an injury-time winner as Manchester United got out of jail to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1.

Mick McCarthy's side looked like holding on for a point, but Park popped up with time running out to take United to within two points of leaders Chelsea.

United fans were in for a shock at Old Trafford as Owen Hargreaves was handed a rare start, but his return lasted a matter of five minutes as he limped off with what appeared a hamstring injury.

The Red Devils were without Dimitar Berbatov who was absent due to a virus, but Park stepped up to the plate and fired United ahead shortly before the interval when collecting a fine pass from Darren Fletcher and slotting home.

McCarthy gave his Wolves side freedom to attack and they were rewarded when Sylvan Ebanks-Blake worked himself a yard of space before shooting beyond Edwin van der Sar. United looked like they had run out of ideas, but Fletcher teed up Park for the second time in the match to steal the win deep into stoppage time.

Bolton brought Tottenham down to earth with a shuddering bump by claiming a 4-2 win. A matter of four days after stunning European champions Inter at White Hart Lane, Tottenham were sent packing from the Reebok Stadium with their tails between their legs after finding the Trotters too strong.

Kevin Davies did his England claims no harm in front of the watching Fabio Capello by lashing home from the edge of the area on 31 minutes, although there was a suspicion of offside. Gareth Bale found Gretar Steinsson a tougher prospect than Inter's Maicon and the Bolton full back confirmed his superiority by netting Bolton's second shortly after the interval.

Davies rubbed salt into the wounds by ramming home from the penalty spot after Lee had been felled in the box. Alan Hutton curled home a glorious goal for Spurs with 10 minutes remaining and Roman Pavlyuchenko volleyed in a brilliant goal but Bolton broke away as Spurs pressed and Martin Petrov secured the win with a late fourth.

West Ham remain rooted to the foot of the table after squandering a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Birmingham.

The Hammers are in real trouble at the foot of the table, but Frederic Piquionne and Valon Behrami looked to have eased the pressure on Avram Grant with goals on 48 and 58 minutes.

West Ham failed to kill off the contest and Nikola Zigic nodded down for Cameron Jerome to cut the deficit and Blues snatched a point when Liam Ridgewell bundled home from close range after Robert Green had saved Seb Larsson's free kick.

Morten Gamst Pedersen fired home a stunning free kick, his first goal of the season, as Blackburn hauled themselves out of the drop zone at the expense of beaten opponents Wigan.

The Norwegian blasted home a stunning free kick from out wide on 58 minutes to hand Rovers the lead. Michel Salgado linked up with Brett Emerton who crossed for Jason Roberts to slide home the second 23 minutes from time. Charles N'Zogbia matched Pedersen's feat with a fine free kick of his own for Wigan, but Sam Allardyce's men held on for the three points.

Blackpool were twice pegged back as Everton claimed a 2-2 draw at Bloomfield Road. Neil Eardley curled home an excellent free kick for the hosts on nine minutes, but Tim Cahill headed home his 50th Premier League goal to level the scores.

Ian Holloway's men were rewarded for their attacking endeavour when David Vaughan slammed home following an almighty scramble just after the break, but the lead was short lived as Seamus Coleman beat Matthew Gilks with a shot the Blackpool keeper will look back on and think he should have saved.

Asamoah Gyan grabbed a brace of goals as Sunderland claimed a 2-0 win over Stoke City. The Ghana striker was given a starting berth by Steve Bruce and justified his inclusion as he netted early on from close range. He tormented the Stoke defence and won a penalty on 28 minutes, but Steed Malbranque saw his effort saved by Asmir Begovic. Stoke thought they had earned a penalty when Lee Cattermole appeared to handle on the line, but referee Martin Atkinson awarded a corner and late in the day Gyan grabbed his second.

Marc Albrighton collected a long pass and showed real composure to beat Mark Schwarzer but Breda Hengeland grabbed a late leveller as Fulham claimed a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
