Fabianski fires warning to Almunia

Lukasz Fabianski has vowed to fight to retain his place in Arsenal's starting line-up when first-choice keeper Manuel Almunia returns to fitness.
A string of impressive performances had seen Fabianski keep three consecutive clean sheets but a mistake against Newcastle on Sunday allowed Andy Carroll to score the only goal of the game as the Magpies enjoyed a surprise victory at Emirates Stadium.
Almunia has not played since September after suffering an elbow injury, but Fabianski has no intention of giving the Spaniard an easy route back into the first team.
"I don't know what will happen when Manuel is fit but I will keep doing my best and we will see what happens," Fabianski said in the Daily Mirror. "I am getting experience, which is really important for a keeper, and that experience is helping me prepare for the next game.
"I was not happy with what happened against Newcastle but I was still feeling in good shape. To be honest, I have been playing for some time and have not been looking bad in goal."
Fabianski joined the Gunners from Legia Warsaw in May 2007, and Arsene Wenger is happy the Pole is finally establishing himself in the team.
"Of course he was disappointed with the goal we conceded against Newcastle, but I think he did very well and made a fantastic save in the last minute against Wolves," Wenger said. "I know he's a great keeper and also that he has the mental strength to respond to things in a very positive way."
