Beckham plays through the pain as Galaxy fall to Dallas

David Beckham expressed his disappointment as LA Galaxy failed to reach the MLS Cup final after they lost 3-0 at home to FC Dallas on Sunday.
Beckham came close to opening the scoring after eight minutes, but his long-range free-kick was tipped away by Dallas keeper Kevin Hartman, who made a series of impressive saves for his side.
The former England captain suffered a groin injury in the opening 15 minutes but opted to carry on playing, only to see David Ferreira fire Dallas into the lead on 25 minutes. Ferreira turned provider for Marvin Chavez's goal, but only after George John effectively sealed the contest shortly after half-time.
"We want to be successful as a club and as a team so hopefully we can do that next season," Beckham told Sky Sports. "At the end of the day as long as I have given 110% like I do in every game then I will look at myself in the mirror and know that I have done that. It is just disappointing."
Galaxy coach Bruce Arena admitted he considered taking Beckham off.
"We saw right at the beginning of the game, probably 15 minutes in, that he had a problem," he said. "We talked to him at halftime. There was a chance that we were going to take him off but he stayed in."
Beckham missed the start of the season for Galaxy after tearing his Achilles tendon while on loan at AC Milan in March, and his team-mate Landon Donovan revealed the midfielder had not been playing at full fitness.
"He has been playing through a lot of pain in the last few weeks, more than you know," Donovan said. "When you come back that quickly at that age from an Achilles injury, there are going to be residual effects."
Dallas will make their MLS Cup debut against Colorado on November 21 in Toronto after the Rapids beat San Jose 1-0 on Saturday night.
