'Worried' Houllier blasts Villa after Blackburn loss

A "worried" Gerard Houllier has blasted his Aston Villa side for being "not at it" during their 2-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
The Frenchman appeared to have turned a corner at Villa Park after he masterminded a highly creditable 2-2 draw with Manchester United, but they failed to repeat the performance in the subsequent game at Ewood Park.
Despite a debut for new signing Robert Pires, Villa failed to rouse themselves above the mediocre as they never threatened to get back into the match after falling behind at the beginning of the first half.
Now Houllier has called for his "too shy" team to improve in the coming weeks in order to climb above their current position of 13th. "I do look at the table and of course I am worried. Football is about results," Houllier said.
"The performance against Manchester United needs to be repeated if you are to step up a level. I thought we were too shy today at the beginning of the game. It was a different challenge for his physically and mentally and we weren't at it. We have to accept that and learn the lesson from this game."
