Carlo Ancelotti has given John Terry compassionate leave of absence to see his wife and family in Dubai as he seeks to deal with the issues surrounding his private life.

Terry has recovered from the dead leg he suffered against Arsenal and is set to remain in the side for Chelsea's Premier League clash against Everton on Wednesday.

However, Ancelotti suggested in his press conference on Tuesday that Terry would be allowed to visit his family after that match.

"We have spoken and we will take the decision together after the Everton game to see if he needs to rest two days or if he wants to stay here and play against Cardiff," he said. "He has not asked for any time off to see his wife.

"My preference is what he wants. I am totally supportive of him. We will make the decision together. We want to respect the FA Cup because it is an important trophy in this country so we will speak after the game against Everton and make the decision, the right one for us both. The FA Cup and John's marriage are different; FA Cup is professional, the other thing is private."

Sources close to the player have told Soccernet that the decision has already been made and Terry will not feature in Saturday's game as he looks to resolve his problems and take a break from the stress brought on by the recent allegations.
