Bruce consigned to losing Welbeck

Steve Bruce is resigned to losing Saturday's match-winner Danny Welbeck, following Sunderland's 1-0 victory over Bolton.
Welbeck netted the only goal of the game with a first-half diving header, extending his recent good run of form for the Black Cats.
The young striker is currently on loan from Manchester United, and Bruce would love to make that arrangement permanent. However, the former United defender fully anticipates Welbeck becoming a big part of the Old Trafford setup in the near future.
"I always knew that was going to be a problem anyway, deep down, but you never know," said Bruce. "Fergie has got a birthday coming up shortly and he might get generous in his old age. I somehow doubt it.
"He's a fantastic talent, isn't he? You can see that and he has benefited from playing regularly. The good thing about him is he has got an infectious enthusiasm about him. He wants to play and train and he has been terrific.
"Manchester United have got a very good player on their hands."
