The mother of Liverpool defender Paul Konchesky has launched a scathing attack on supporters who have criticised her son, describing them as "Scouse scum" on social networking site Facebook.

Carol Konchesky responded angrily to comments from fans who have been unimpressed with the left-back's performances at Anfield since his £4 million transfer from Fulham in August.

On her Facebook page, she told Liverpool fans to stop "living off the past", described Roy Hodgson's side as "s**t" and previously said that the family would not be moving from their home in Dagenham to join Konchesky on Merseyside because "we don't like the way they talk".

Friends supported her posts, with one saying: "The Liverpool scum don't know class when it hits them in the face."

Another friend urged her to ignore "dirty Scousers" and "clueless morons", but Reds fans reacted by sending angry messages, forcing the Facebook account to be shut down.

A club spokesman told the Liverpool Echo: "Mrs Konchesky's comments are inappropriate and have already been removed from Facebook. This does remain, however, a private family matter."
