Sampdoria confirm Macheda loan deal

Sampdoria have confirmed that Manchester United star Federico Macheda has joined them on loan for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old striker was made available by Sir Alex Ferguson after he found his route to a first-team place blocked by the emergence of Javier Hernandez.
Although Ferguson's preference was for Macheda to join a Premier League club, he has let him leave to fill the space created by Antonio Cassano's switch from Samp to AC Milan.
"I am very happy that Macheda has chosen Sampdoria and I think it's the same for the fans," said Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone.
"Macheda has easily filled the void left by Cassano, he will definitely do well. In these five months we will try to treat him well. With him here, the enthusiasm has increased tenfold."
