Mancini hints at further signings

Roberto Mancini admits that Manchester City's January spending may not be over - despite the £27 million capture of Edin Dzeko.

City have been forced to thin out their bloated squad by loaning players to other Premier League clubs - notably Wayne Bridge and Roque Santa Cruz - but that will not stop them searching for new recruits, with a centre back thought to be a priority.

Asked if City would be signing anyone, Mancini said: "We have ten days. I don't know. At the moment we must focus on Aston Villa game."

There could be more space freed up in the squad if, as expected, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Emmanuel Adebayor leave. Fulham and Newcastle have expressed an interest in the former, while Adebayor is reportedly close to returning to Monaco, who he left in 2006 to join Arsenal.

Although these rumours persist, Mancini is adamant that the players are no closer to exiting Eastlands. "At the moment nothing. We have another ten days, [so it] is possible."

One man who will not be departing is Mario Balotelli, who has suggested that he would be receptive to an approach from Milan. "For him it's important that he shows his talent here because here, in this moment, is the best championship in Europe," Mancini said.
