Hammers after disgraced Diouf

West Ham have expressed an interest in taking El-Hadji Diouf from Blackburn Rovers, according to the player's agent.

Diouf's representative Willie McKay has revealed that a number of clubs are interested in signing the former Liverpool man, after Blackburn made it clear the Senegalese international can leave for nothing in January. The club's decision was influenced by Diouf's recent antics in the side's FA Cup clash with QPR, where he appeared to berate forward Jamie Mackie as the Scot lay on the ground with a broken leg.

Nevertheless, Diouf's agent Willie Mackay has been made aware of West Ham's interest - which could see Benni McCarthy return to Ewood Park as part of a deal - along with that of a number of clubs across Europe.

"Blackburn have indicated they are ready to let El-Hadji Diouf leave on a free transfer," McKay told skysports.com. "West Ham have shown an interest in El Hadji and they could let Benni McCarthy go back to Blackburn as part of the deal.

"There are a number of other clubs in England and Europe interested and El Hadji is weighing up his options."
