Daniel Levy has insisted Tottenham will look to push on with plans for a new home outside the area even if they fail in their bid to win the decision to take over the Olympic Stadium.

Tottenham and West Ham are vying to take over the Olympic Stadium after 2012, but Spurs are facing widespread criticism for planning to move away from north London to Stratford.

The club's preferred option had been to redevelop their White Hart Lane home, but they claim the plans in their present form are not viable and chairman Levy is ready to explore other avenues if they do not win the vote on the Olympic Stadium.

"We need a bigger stadium," Levy told Sky Sports News.

"It is one of those emotive items that if we had a choice we would rather stay here and have fantastic transport links. But what is clear is that for this club to compete at the highest level in the Premier League and Europe, we need a larger stadium and if that means moving out of the area, I am sure the fans will back us.

"The problem with the current situation at White Hart Lane is that the project is not viable and it will mean going back to the drawing board and considering other locations."
