Carroll heading for specialist assessment

Andy Carroll has been booked in to see a specialist in Sweden as the Newcastle man continues to struggle to shake off a tendon problem.
The England striker has not featured for the Magpies since the end of December and the problem is clearly causing concern, despite Newcastle manager Alan Pardew saying last week that his charge had not met with a setback.
Pardew suggested Carroll would be fit at the start of February, but that could prove to be wide of the mark as he has confirmed the striker will be packed off to Sweden.
"We've had a conversation about sending him to the world's best tendon repair specialist, at the Arctic end of Sweden, and he's flying out there on Friday," Pardew confirmed to The Times.
Dan Gosling is another injury casualty, with the midfielder facing a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
