Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has revealed he would be "very surprised" if the club made any signings on transfer deadline day.

Reports have suggested that Spurs saw a £38.5 million bid for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero rejected on Sunday evening, and Redknapp has hinted that the club have ended their interest in the player.

He did reveal his admiration for Villarreal star Guiseppe Rossi and Sevilla's Alvaro Negredo, but he played down Spurs' chances of signing either. "I don't think you're going to be seeing a lot of action here today," he told Sky Sports News. "It would surprise us all if [the Aguero deal] happened - no, I don't think so.

"[Rossi] is a fantastic player, but wouldn't have thought so. [Rossi and Negredo would] improve us, but I can't see it."

Redknapp insisted that midfielder Niko Kranjcar, who has been linked with a move to Wolfsburg, would remain at the club after they let David Bentley and Robbie Keane exit on loan. "No, we can't weaken the squad any more, we've let a few of the lads go out."
