Gerard Houllier has confirmed that Ashley Young will not be leaving Aston Villa - but he is remaining coy on the future of Stephen Warnock.

Liverpool transfer supremo Damien Comolli has said that the Reds admire Young, while Kenny Dalglish has been linked with a deadline-day move for Warnock following the departure of Paul Konchesky to Nottingham Forest.

Although Villa are yet to receive a bid for either, Houllier has hinted that they would be willing to listen to offers for Warnock, who has started 19 Premier League games this season.

"I can confirm [we want him to stay]. Ashley is a highly-rated player and highly liked by everyone at Aston Villa," Houllier said. "No official bid has been made."

On Warnock, he added: "No, so far nothing has happened. We have until midnight, everybody can come and everybody can go. There is a possibility - I don't say that they have permission to go, but until midnight we have to consider the fact it's still wide open."

Villa are expected to confirm the loan signing of Michael Bradley from Monchengladbach before the transfer window closes, while Stephen Ireland is set for a short-term switch to Newcastle.
