Kuyt adds to calls for Dalglish to get Liverpool job

Dirk Kuyt has joined Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard in calling for Kenny Dalglish to be installed as the permanent manager of Liverpool.

Kuyt played a starring role in Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday, working tirelessly in the absence of Fernando Torres to lay down a platform for Dalglish's fourth consecutive victory.

The Reds boss has revitalised Liverpool's season since taking caretaker charge following the dismissal of Roy Hodgson, adopting a new formation involving three centre-backs to spark a run of four straight clean sheets. Kuyt has been impressed, and he added to the calls of Carragher and Gerrard for Liverpool's most legendary player to be given the permanent managerial position.

"I think if you only look at results and the mood of the players, I have to agree with them," Kuyt told Sky Sports News.

"He's installed a lot of belief and he told us we are all quality players and that he is here to help us. He's a legend, not only to the fans but to the players. Obviously he has helped me a lot as a striker."

Kuyt also defended £50 million man Torres over his claims that he had joined a big club at Chelsea, insisting the Spaniard merely failed to express himself clearly using English language.

"He explained that it is difficult for him to explain in his second language," said Kuyt. "He just wants to win trophies now and he believes he has a better chance at Chelsea. We hope he's wrong."
