Nasri could still face Barcelona - Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes 'there is a chance' midfielder Samir Nasri could be fit to face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Frenchman was sidelined with a hamstring injury during the FA Cup clash with Huddersfield Town at the end of January, a setback that was believed to have ruled him out of playing any part in the game at Emirates Stadium.

But Wenger revealed he is still hopeful the 23-year-old will be able to participate.

"I wouldn't say he has no chance [of playing against Barcelona]," Wenger said. "I would say there is a chance.''

Nasri's team-mate Jack Wilshere will be fit for the game, however, and Wenger had praise for the young Englishman after an impressive performance as the Gunners beat Wolves 2-0 in the Premier League.

"Jack is a talented player who can defend and attack," Wenger said. "He had a very good game. He defends well, he attacks well, he creates, he has assists.''

Wilshere failed to get on the scoresheet against Wolves, despite finding himself in a number of goal-scoring positions. But Wenger believes it is just a matter of time before he finds his touch in front of goal, as was the case for fellow midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

"He is a very confident lad but he has not scored yet. Cesc was like that for a while,'' the Frenchman said. "I believe he will score soon because he looks very close.

"He has a hesitation some time to shoot himself and chooses to always give the ball. When he is a bit more confident he will score goals.''
