Steven Gerrard has not been included in Liverpool's travelling party for their Europa League clash with Sparta Prague on account of injury.

Gerrard is continuing his recovery from a groin problem and the club felt it would be wise to leave their captain on Merseyside. Also absent is defender Daniel Agger who is struggling with a groin complaint.

As predicted, manager Kenny Dalglish included teenage sensation Raheem Sterling following his five-goal blast for Liverpool's youth side against Southend on Monday.

Other youngsters Conor Coady, John Flanagan, Tom Ince and Jack Robinson - who set the record as the club's youngest player against Hull last May - have also travelled.

Joe Cole is looking to force his way back into Dalglish's plans following injury and he has made the trip, but Christian Poulsen has not travelled after his wife went into labour.
