Netherlands international Dirk Kuyt has revealed he is making good progress in his talks with Liverpool regarding a new contract.

Kuyt, 30, is out of contract at the end of the 2011-12 season but says he is keen to remain at Liverpool, having made 163 Premier League appearances for the club since his £9 million move from Feyenoord in August 2006.

While Liverpool have endured a season of upheaval, with FSG replacing Tom Hicks and George Gillett in the boardroom and Kenny Dalglish replacing Roy Hodgson in the dressing room, Kuyt believes the Reds are now making progress and is ready to commit his future to the club.

"My contract has one more season to go after this but there are things happening," said Kuyt inThe People. "We have had some talks and I can only say it looks positive.

"I feel at home in Liverpool and I don't want to leave here. It has been a difficult time for everyone at the club with the changes that have happened since last summer but now I can sense something good is happening - I think Liverpool are on the way back."
