Evra signs new United deal

Patrice Evra has committed his future to Manchester United by signing a new deal.
The Red Devils have moved to secure fresh commitments with a number of players and just a couple of days after Ryan Giggs put his name to a deal, Evra has followed suit.
It was believed that Evra inked a deal on Friday, as Rio Ferdinand congratulated his team-mate on Twitter before removing the post. However, a matter of days later the club have confirmed a deal has been signed which ties the Frenchman to the club until 2014.
The 29-year-old left-back joined the Reds in January 2006 and has made 226 appearances, scoring three goals. He has won three Premier League titles, three League Cups including one as captain in 2010 and winners' medals in both the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
"Ever since I arrived at United, it's been a dream come true playing here," Evra told the club's official website. "The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.
"I've won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that's the mentality of everyone here."
The 29-year-old joined United from Monaco in 2006 and his decision to commit to the club has thrilled manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"Patrice has developed into a key character in the dressing room," Ferguson said. "It's great that he's committed himself to Manchester United. His experience and talent will be increasingly important to us."
