Birmingham City owner Carson Yeung has admitted he will realise his 'dream' when the club run out in the Carling Cup final against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Blues will compete in their first cup final in ten years when the game gets underway at Wembley, just under 18 months after Yeung finally completed his takeover of the club. And the Hong Kong businessman admits he is on the same high as the club's fans at the prospect of the game - which will also take place on his birthday.

"It's my dream," Yeung told Sky Sports. "It's not just a dream for the supporters, I'm dreaming as an owner to see my team in the final - it's exciting, amazing. It is my dream, and my dream is almost coming true now."

In many ways the cup is a distraction, however, as the St Andrew's club are currently embroiled in a relegation battle at the foot of the Premier League table. But Yeung is confident the Blues will stay up, and expects the club to be active in the transfer market come the summer, after signing both David Bentley and Obafemi Martins on temporary deals in January.

"We go step by step, we cannot rush," Yeung said. "We are still looking for good players to join our team. I'm sure we can stay in the Premier League.

"Bentley and Martins are good players. They have good performances. Maybe after a few more games they will do much better than they are doing now."

Yeung still hopes to sign an Asian player for the club, but will only do so when they find one of sufficient quality to enhance the playing staff.

"We are still looking for it, but we want to get the best one," he said.
