Gareth Bale believes AC Milan will play with fear against Tottenham after watching rivals Inter slump to defeat at White Hart Lane earlier in the season.

Bale was the architect of Spurs' 3-1 Champions League win over Inter in November, while he scored a hat-trick as the Londoners fell to a 4-3 loss when the sides met at the San Siro.

The 21-year-old missed the first leg of the last-16 tie in Milan, which Spurs won 1-0, having picked up a back injury. He returned to action in last weekend's draw at Wolves, coming on as a second-half substitute, but is a doubt for the Milan return after experiencing stiffness in training.

And although the Wales international is wary of the threat posed by the Italian side's strikers, he insists Tottenham possess the quality to trouble Europe's best sides.

"I watched the game on TV at home and we played well," the winger told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "We came up against one of the top teams in Serie A, who are really tough. Like Inter Milan. But this time we did not go down to 10 men and we showed what Tottenham are capable of doing.

"They have a string of big names capable of winning matches on their own. I am thinking of Ibrahimovic, of Robinho. But I believe Milan will be thinking of what can happen to them here.

"They will be a lot more worried about us. And this should even things up on the pitch. If we play to our best, we can give anyone a game."
