Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has not ruled out the possibility of returning to North London as an emergency signing.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who signed Lehmann from Borussia Dortmund in 2003, is considering bringing in goalkeeping cover after Wojciech Szczesny joined Lukasz Fabianski and Vito Mannone on the sidelines.

Manuel Almunia is Arsenal's only fit senior goalkeeper and the Gunners had 19-year-old James Shea on the bench for Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Manchester United.

Lehmann is due to spend six weeks at his old club to work on his coaching badges and would not rule out the possibility of being part of Wenger's squad.

"I am in London and so far have heard nothing of such plans, but you never know," Lehmann told Bild.

The German, 41, made almost 200 appearances for Arsenal before returning to the Bundesliga with Stuttgart in 2008 and then retiring last summer.
