Boateng set for knee operation

Manchester City's defensive options for the final weeks of the season look set to fall with the news Jerome Boateng is facing up to the prospect of a knee operation.
There has been no word from City on the subject, but the German football federation has revealed the defender requires surgery on his right knee.
Boateng damaged his knee during the warm-up for Saturday's European Championship qualifier against Kazakhsta.
The defender has returned to Manchester for assessment, but it would appear he is likely to require an operation.
