Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has revealed that the German giants are keen to sign Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who is reportedly a target for Manchester United, this summer.

Bayern have struggled to keep pace with Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund this season and are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping position, despite the emergence of 22-year-old Thomas Kraft.

Neuer has been linked with a move away from Schalke and the Germany international has made it clear that he wishes to stay in the Bundesliga, with Bayern now at the head of the queue for his signature.

"We haven't made any signings yet. We all know that we can't do any transfer business now the market's closed," Hoeness said to Sport1.

"This doesn't stop us from making plans for the future, though, and we're thinking about the capture of a new goalkeeper among other things. I can reveal that Schalke's Manuel Neuer is one of the candidates to join us."
