Wenger angry at late penalty decision

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger complained about the amount of time added on after he saw his side throw away a late lead to draw 1-1 with Liverpool at Emirates Stadium.
The Frenchman was visibly irate as Reds midfielder Lucas won a penalty in the 102nd minute after being bundled over by Emmanuel Eboue. And, after Dirk Kuyt finished coolly from the spot to cancel out Robin van Persie's own penalty just minutes earlier, Wenger was disappointed with both the timing and manner of the referee's decision.
"It was a game where Liverpool defended a lot. I feel hard done by in the end because the time was over by three minutes," Wenger said to Sky Sports.
"But you have to take it and you continue to fight. Extra time was eight minutes.
"Lucas played in an intelligent way. He stopped his run and the referee saw penalty, but what can you do about it?"
Wenger's opposite number, Kenny Dalglish, preferred to focus on the positives for his side - noting they had responded well after losing both Andy Carroll and Jamie Carragher to injuries during the course of the match.
"I think what we did at the end epitomised the performance," Dalglish, who confirmed Carroll's withdrawal was primarily precautionary, said. "We lost two players, we had two teenagers at right and left-back, playing against a side looking to win the league.
"We remained committed to getting something out of the game and we had to play on."
The two managers seemed to have a disagreement after the award of the second penalty, but the Scot was not keen to discuss the matter further - suggesting it was just part and parcel of a tense game.
"I'd rather not repeat what was said," he said.
"I don't know why a conversation between two managers on the bench is relevant after a game like that. It's not worth the time of day."
