Milan Jovanovic has spoken of his regret at joining Liverpool, with the forward claiming he is in a "lonely place".

Jovanovic moved to Anfield from Standard Liege last summer but he arrived only after the man who had sanctioned his capture, Rafa Benitez, had left the club.

The Serb has made just one start since Kenny Dalglish took the reins in January. Jovanovic is likely to be moved on in the summer and it seems it won't come soon enough for the 30-year-old.

"If I moved to Italy or Germany I'd be happier," he is quoted as saying in The Sun. "I'm here alone, just a very lonely stranger.

"My only regret is Rafa Benitez bought me but left before my arrival."
