Manchester City admit Carlos Tevez only has a 50 per cent chance of playing in the FA Cup final.
The City skipper missed their semi-final victory over arch-rivals Manchester United at Wembley after suffering a hamstring injury in their 3-0 defeat at Liverpool on April 11.
A statement on the City website confirmed that the striker is "making good progress" but still faces a race against time to be fit enough to lead out City at Wembley on May 14.
"[Tevez] is responding well to treatment and is desperate to play his part in creating history for the Blues," said the statement.
However there was more positive news that Micah Richards is expected to be fit for the return to Wembley. The England defender has been using an oxygen tent in a bid to speed up his recovery from a hamstring injury.
