Chelsea striker Didier Drogba will stay at Stamford Bridge this summer, according to his agent Thierno Seydi.

Speculation about Drogba's future has been rife since Fernando Torres arrived from Liverpool in a £50 million deal in January, with Real Madrid and Marseille among the Ivorian's reported suitors.

But the signing of Torres appears to have prompted a resurgence in form from Drogba, who had previously struggled to assert himself this season after a bout of malaria.

And over the past two months it has been Drogba, not Torres, who has spearheaded Chelsea's re-emergence as title contenders with a series of imperious displays.

The former Marseille striker is believed to have held talks with Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay in order to ascertain whether he would be needed next season and the answer appears to be yes.

"A lot was said over a possible departure of Didier Drogba," Seydi said. "That is not the order of the day. He stays at this club, which he knows very well."

Drogba has been at Chelsea for eight years and is the sixth highest scorer in the club's history, six goals behind Stamford Bridge legend Peter Osgood.
