Inverness ensured they finished the SPL season on a high note, beating Hamilton 2-1 at New Douglas Park on Saturday.

Thistle took the lead one minute before half-time, Richie Foran heading home to give the visitors the lead with their first effort on target. However, it lasted just six minutes as Simon Mensing responded almost immediately after the break.

Inverness were not to be denied, moving ahead again just before the hour when Adam Rooney scored his 21st of a very good season for the striker.

Aberdeen were also triumphant in their final game, overcoming Hibernian 3-1 at Easter Road.

Derek Riordan was the most influential player of the opening 20 minutes so it was no surprise when he broke the deadlock for Hibs. However, Aberdeen gave as good as they got and Josh Magennis headed an equaliser three minutes after the interval.

Chris Maguire then scored twice in three minutes to wrap up the points for the away side.

Elsewhere, St Mirren and St Johnstone signed off with a dull 0-0 draw at St Mirren Park.
