Fabio Capello insists he trusts his players enough to allow them a two-week break ahead of next year's European Championships in Poland and Ukraine, insisting they need the rest to restore their energy levels.

The Italian coach is currently readying his troops for their Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland on Saturday, with England looking to consolidate their position at the top of Group G.

Capello came in for fierce criticism following England's dismal 2010 World Cup campaign, with many blasting him for failing to get the most out of his squad. Despite a woeful campaign from Wayne Rooney and Co., there was sympathy from those who felt a gruelling domestic season had taken its toll.

Determined not to make the same mistakes again, Capello insists he has learned from the past and is willing to hand his players a fortnight's break before heading out to embark on their Euro tilt.

When asked whether he would grant the squad a pre-tournament break, he said: "Yes I think if we play the Euros I will want to give the players 10 days or two weeks [break]. I learned a lot after the World Cup and I learned they arrived tired at the end of the season and that they don't need a lot of games before playing the first game.

"The reason is that they need a minimum of 10 days rest. I trust them, I think a holiday is good to mind their energy because when we say focus, focus, focus for a long time you spend a lot of energy, mind energy."

Meanwhile, Capello left the door open for Ben Foster to return to the national setup in the future. Foster, who has five full England caps, made himself unavailable earlier in the month for England duty to concentrate on his club career but Capello said he will not block the 28-year-old should he wish to resume his international career at some stage in the future.

When asked if the door was still ajar for Foster, he said: "Yes absolutely, he's a good keeper."
